A TRIBUTE TO MY FATHER

Heavenly Father, I
thank you,
I do
For giving me an
earthly father
who was so much like
you.
Yes, so much of your
likeness
in him I did see.
He taught me values
that are for eternity.
Yes, my name to your
throne
he did bring each day.
He yearned that
I would follow your
way.
The life he lived
showed me
in you I could trust.
And to place my
treasures in
Heaven where they
would never rust.
So many memories,
too numerous to
repeat...
But today I bow
and worship at your
feet.
Someday I'll be at
home with you
and see you face to
face...
Then I'll thank you
that
through my earthly
father
I saw and was touched
by your
Amazing Grace.
My father left us a
legacy in poems that he wrote.
I was compiling a book of them
for my mother. The night
before Father's Day I could
not sleep. I finally had to
get up, grab a pencil and
paper, and write this poem in
honor of him. It is very
special to me as it
commemorates a very important
influence in my life. It also
commemorated the countless
other lives he touched. This
is a way of immortalizing his
life and sharing him with the
world. I hope that others who
have special people in their
lives can relate to my love
for him, and perhaps share my
poem with their loved ones.
