DO YOU
REMEMBER?
Sleighs drawn by horses with collar bells
Snow drifts 6 or more feet high,
Animals sheltered in blizzards by lean to`s
And cabin smoke swirling high.
Long johns from Roebucks
Mittens and scarves made by grams,
Icicles glistening on edge of tin roofs
and big folks evening whispered sigh plans.
Or watching through frosted windows
intricately designed by `he then, called jack
frost,
Searching the skies wondering
if it were possible, that Ole Santa might get
lost.
The smell of sweet hot chocolate warming
on the old black pot bellied stove,
Along with the smell of fresh baked cider donuts
or new bread rising by 5 or 6 loaves.
The `Night before Christmas read to the young
sitting attentively at gramps knees,
The smoke from his pipe swirling
that resembled a mornings mists tease.
His giggle, the jolly smile on his face
as he gave into a big neck stretching yawn,
Saying, we`d best get Santa`s treats ready
as his visit time approaches - it`s beddy bye
time
and too soon .... it`ll be dawn....
