FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR

It's my favorite time of the
year-
The magic and mistletoe; Kisses
in the doorway-
Caring; Sharing; Giving with
purest of hearts-
Getting to experience the awe, on
a child's face; and tears
of joy on a Grandmother's cheek-

Watching in amazement as the
snowflakes land perfectly-
Family traditions; Eating from Mom's
best china-
Feeling close to friends; and even
closer to strangers-
Rediscovering old classmates; Catching
up; and reminiscing

Sending Christmas cards; Reading
the ones you've received-
This years, or all those you've saved-
Hanging stockings; Checking lists;
Wrapping gifts; With pretty bows-
A sparkling glass of red; or
white wine-
Savoring every sip of Dad's rich
steamy hot chocolate

Adults whispering; hoping the
little ones aren't near-
That one mystery gift beneath
the tree-
Sneaking quietly into everyone's
imagination-
Who's and what could it be?

Pulling children close; Wanting to
hear their wishes from Santa-
Coaxing and prying; Then fulfilling
their dreams-
Garland; lights; Poinsettias and tinsel;
Bing Crosby crooning from the den-
Roaring fireplaces; and roasted
chestnuts

Aaahhh...It really is my favorite
time of the year....
Christmas, with it's mistletoe
and magic-
Children laughing; Sharing and Caring;
touching gently the memories of
those no longer here;
It really is my favorite time of
the year
