Remembering
the Season
Flurries
skipping on the breeze,
tickling my face with winter's
chill.
Distant sleigh bells drawing
close,
probably just right over the
hill.
Two lovers
walking hand in hand,
enjoying their special time
together.
I just can't help but think of
us,
cuddling close in frosty
weather.
Their laughter
made me remember,
the time when you taught me to
skate.
I'd fall, then we'd both laugh,
we stayed that evening rather
late.
Back inside by
the fireplace,
it's crackling took me away.
As I reached for the heavy
blanket,
I knew I needed your memory to
stay.
I covered my
feet and held your photo,
your smile just melted my heart.
Still I can hear your loving
whispers,
before you would depart.
Two years ago
on Christmas Eve,
our happiness would suddenly
end.
Holiday cheer steering the
oncoming car,
swept our lives away on the
wind.
This ring I
wear was on the seat,
with a card addressed to me.
I offer this ring with all my
love,
my wife I would like you to be.
The sound of
ice tickling the window,
made me wonder if you now weep.
If those were frozen tears from
Heaven,
and our love you still keep.
Ember lights
from the fireplace glowed,
as the night became peacefully
still.
A choir of Angels broke the
silence,
spreading joy and good will.
Don't make
this somebody's next year's
Christmas thoughts.
DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!
MERRY CHRISTMAS
