THE
PRIDE TEST
I lived my life to bring reward to me,
and me alone;
I wanted so a star to be,
always to be well-known.
I went to church and did the 'things'
to make me seem so good;
I helped out people with their work
around my neighborhood.
I did these
things to bring
acclaim,
and thought 'how great I am'!
I
passed the pride test on my own
but failed the final exam.
I went my way, doing what I wished,
gave Christ no lasting say.
Then came the time that we all dread
that day! That judgment day!
I stood before Jehovah God
and bowed my head in shame.
For ne'er had I called upon the Lord never claimed the Savior's name.
So here I stand before my God
sunk low, distressed I am.
I passed the pride test on my own
but failed the final exam.
Not once did I do anything
to bring a soul to Him;
Or tell another of His love
or strive for Christ to win.
I went to church on Sunday,
then lived for the world each day.
From Monday until Saturday
I followed my own way.
So Heaven I will never see;
my life's been one big sham;
I passed the pride test on my own
but failed the final exam.
My friend, please listen up right now
for I have much to say.
Don't waste your life on trifles;
come to Christ this very day.
Sweet peace will be yours, contentment,
too, for He gives His very best
To those who love and serve Him;
from your burdens you'll find rest.
Give Him your all, don't wait around;
He's still the great "I AM"!
Don't pass the pride test on your own
then fail the final exam.
